The project is a joint undertaking between the HHART - The International Service Team of the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach and LiveDifferent, a charitable organization involved in humanitarian projects in Haiti, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Thailand. HHART has been working consistently and passionately in and for the citizens of Batey Cangrejo for more than a decade. We are fully integrated into the community. HHART leaders have paid for medical treatments and funeral expenses that would create undue hardship on many. HHART has paid indigenous staff on the ground 24/7/365. HHART has helped the residents of Batey Cangrejo on many projects from water systems, education and community programs. HHART is wholly dedicated to ensuring that the citizens of Batey Cangrejo’s tomorrow are a little bit better than today. Since 2005, LiveDifferent has been active in the Dominican Republic, focusing its efforts in and around Puerto Plata on the north coast. Through its Builds program, the organization collaborates with local communities to construct homes, schools, and community centers, engaging volunteers to work alongside families in need. This approach fosters cultural exchange and community transformation. LiveDifferent's sustained commitment has significantly impacted the lives of numerous families, providing safe housing and strengthening community ties. The project will combine the efforts of both the HHART - The International Service Team of the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach and LiveDifferent to build a much needed community center for the people of Batey Cangrejo. HHART Foundation has purchased the property and will take full responsibility for all legal and/or necessary documents being taken care of.
